I just got my shipping notification telling me that my March Birchbox is on the way… And I still haven’t reviewed my February box yet… Oops!
I guess I just wasn’t really excited about anything in the February box. It was all okay… just nothing to write home about, ya know?
I’ve heard some people on the blogs complaining about Birchbox and how they didn’t get anything they liked and how they plan to drop their subscription. I know I’m only 2 (almost 3) months into my subscription, but I think I’m getting what I wanted out of it…. I’m only paying $10 a box/month and I get to try out a handful of new products. That handfull of would have certainly cost more than $10 if I had bought them individually at full retail price….. and I would have been really ticked if I didn’t like them after I’d paid full price. So for $10 I get to try new stuff… and isn’t half the fun just having something in the mailbox that is just for you and just for fun?? Sometimes I don’t like the products… and then I can say, “whew, glad I didn’t pay full price for that!” Other times I just love it… and I can buy it from Birchbox at a discount or with my Review Points. So I still think I am coming out ahead….
Lancôme HYPNÔSE STAR – (Sample Size) – Didn’t really like it. It made my eyelashes clump together and the brush was puny. I’m happier with my $5 Maybelline Mascara. On the plus side, I fell asleep with it on and it didn’t smudge everywhere…. I would not pay $28 for it… ever! The only mascara that I have come across that is wort that price is Bare Escentuals’ Flawless Definition Mascara – $18 (Which you can get through Birchbox too)…. and I still think it’s kind of silly when Maybelline is only $5 and it’s pretty good.
Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator – (Sample Size) – It’s a face scrub…. it was okay… and I’ll use up the rest of the bottle, but I wouldn’t pay $34 for it. It is a bit too gritty for my taste and it was hard to get it to wash off. I normally use a sugar scrub once a week or so…. this had a finer grit to it and even after I washed it off my skin still felt like there was sand on it…
Skin&Co Bagnodoccia Body Gel – (Sample Size) – I’m not a shower gel kinda girl…. I gave it to Brian (’cause he is a shower kinda guy) and he said it was ‘fine’. That’s all the review we’re gonna get out of him…. it didn’t burn his skin off… so it’s ‘fine’. $17.50 for a full size.
Jouer Matte Moisture Tint – (Sample Size) – Hazel – For some reason Birchbox decided to send me the Hazel shade…. which was too dark and a bit orange-y on my skin. It also seemed really thick. On the plus side it did stay put… but it felt heavy. Not worth $38.
Ghirardelli Milk & Caramel SQUARES – (One square) – It’s chocolate… with caramel in the center….. Ghiradelli chocolate with caramel in the center… does this even need a review? The February Birchbox was redeemed by this product alone!
I hope this month is better than Febs!!! I am hoping for a cute nail polish or something spring/summery!

That body gel looks fab. I just posted the review of my March Birchbox on my blog. It’s the best Birchbox I’ve ever received!
